“Thunderdust” is the name for gunpowder in Feyddan. The principal component of Thunderdust is flash crystal, a rare, luminous crystal found primarily in the Durgan’s Shield mountain range. Flash crystal is volatile and prone to exploding if handled roughly, so it is very difficult to mine. Further, the process of reducing raw flash crystal to a more stable and useful form (i.e. Thunderdust) is both complex and dangerous.
The secrets of mining flash crystal and manufacturing Thunderdust have long been the exclusive purview of the dwarves. However, approximately nine months prior to the start of the campaign, that secret was acquired by the humans of Erogas, prompting a flurry of mining and engineering activity. Humans are trying to steal the designs for and/or create their own Thunderdust weapons, though as of the campaign’s start, they’d met with little success. Still, the demand for flash crystal and Thunderdust is high.
A few months prior to the campaign’s start, miners discovered rich deposits of flash crystal in the vicinity of Emerald Hills, a remote village in the northwest corner of Dragoveld. A rush of miners and prospectors flooded the town, hoping to strike it rich.
